We believe children are unique, and naturally enthusiastic learners! Our curriculum is influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach to learning and combines the benefits of play-based education and structured activities. Our collaborative learning approach has the teacher and child as co-learners working, exploring, and learning together instead of the traditional teacher-led hierarchy. The curriculum is emergent and allows the children to help decide what they learn about instead of just a fixed completely preplanned agenda. We do have weekly themes and a daily schedule, however, when the children’s interest in education leads us on a path of interest, we follow their guidance for learning! Daily activities include cooking/edible projects, art activities, and science experiments. Monthly and weekly themes framework defining what content (scope) and in what order (sequence) it will be taught, ensuring systematic, cumulative learning by detailing topics, skills, and learning objectives over time, present as a curriculum map. Our curriculum meets and exceeds early learning guidelines and standards through an emergent hands-on learning environment!
